This project was undertaken to extend the current Thomson Rail Trail around two redundant railway bridges. The project comprised of over 300 metres of track design and construction in very steep and rocky terrain. An additional 2 kilometres of fallen tree and debris removal was undertaken along and existing section of rail trail. The project site is located adjacent to the Baw Baw Ranges National Park and contains significant remnant vegetation including several FFG listed species. The following tasks were completed by EcoProjects;
- Development of Construction Management Plan
- Obtain relevant permits and approvals, including FFG Act consent to remove native vegetation
- Construct new section of track around two redundant bridges
- Clearing of debris along 2 kilometres of existing track
- Construction of surface drainage systems and application of gravel to an existing steep section of track
